From 5 to 7 November, Europa Uomo is bringing prostate cancer awareness to the heart of Europe. Come and see us beside the European Parliament in Brussels, run or walk with us, or step out wherever you are.

European Prostate Cancer Awareness Day (EPAD) is our moment to speak up together. Europa Uomo, the European Prostate Cancer Coalition, brings together 31 prostate cancer patient organisations from across Europe, united in raising awareness, improving care and giving a stronger voice to everyone affected by prostate cancer.

This year we are taking that message to the heart of Europe, and we need your support.

Virtual Step Out for Prostate Cancer run or walk, wherever you are

Drop by our information tent

Our tent is open on all three days. Step inside to take a closer look at our giant prostate model and learn more about prostate cancer, and why awareness and early detection matter so much. Everyone is welcome, whether you lace up your running shoes or simply drop in to show your support.

Step Out for Prostate Cancer

Whether you run or walk, every effort counts. Step Out for Prostate Cancer raises awareness and funds for Europa Uomo’s work across Europe, and there are two ways to join in.

Join us in Brussels

On Saturday morning, 7 November, between 07:00 and 10:00, run or walk around the European Parliament at your own pace, for as many laps as you feel comfortable with. The event coincides with the European Multidisciplinary Congress on Urological Cancers (EMUC26) and starts from our tent.

Register for Brussels

Take part wherever you are

Can’t make it to Brussels? Between 1 November and 31 December, take a walk in your local park or a run around your neighbourhood. Measure your steps or distance with an app, then submit them.

Register for the virtual run or walk

Taking part is easy: choose the Brussels event or the virtual run or walk, complete the registration form, and keep an eye on your inbox for further information and instructions. Registration fees from the Brussels event, sponsorship contributions and voluntary donations all go towards our awareness work, promoting earlier diagnosis and giving men across Europe a stronger voice in their healthcare.

Why awareness matters

Every year in the EU, around 330,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer and almost 77,000 die of the disease.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the EU. Detected early, it can often be treated successfully, with a chance of cure. Yet without organised, risk-based screening programmes in Europe, too many men are diagnosed only once the disease has spread and may no longer be curable, with serious consequences for both life expectancy and quality of life.

Public awareness also remains limited. Many people do not know enough about the disease, how it can be detected or when men should seek medical advice. For the men living with prostate cancer, their families and our already overstretched healthcare services, we need to do more. That is why Europa Uomo works to improve understanding of prostate cancer, empowering men to take charge of their health and to access the right diagnosis and treatment as early as possible.
