Europa Uomo takes part in innovative European project

Europa Uomo is part of a new European initiative aimed at finding new treatment options for metastatic cancers.

The project, named Mac4Me (Macrophage Targets for Metastatic Treatment), will train 18 doctoral candidates to study the tumour microenvironment at metastatic sites, with a particular focus on three tumour types that show poor response to current immunotherapies: neuroblastoma, breast cancer and prostate cancer.

The 48-month project will address both technical and social challenges in cancer metastasis. It is being led by a core consortium of 14 partners – universities, companies, patient associations, scientific associations – coordinated by  Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Together with patient advocates for breast cancer and neuroblastoma, Europa Uomo is participating in doctoral candidates training and advisory meetings. Europa Uomo Vice Chair Kees Vos took part in the first training session, and the kick-off meeting that followed, in Rotterdam in late June (pictured).
