Europa Uomo launches new initiative to support its awareness-raising activities

Europa Uomo is delighted to announce that registration is open for the first ever Step Out for Prostate Cancer event – an innovative campaign where you can run or walk as far and fast as you want to raise money for Europa Uomo’s prostate cancer awareness work.
“This is a very exciting initiative,” says Europa Uomo Chairman Erik Briers. “Thanks to sponsorship from Bayer, every step that people take on our behalf will allow us to further our work educating men across Europe about prostate cancer and when to get screened.”
Nearly half a million new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in Europe each year, with around 124,000 men dying of the disease annually.
“Far too many men are diagnosed late, and this has a massive effect on their length and quality of life. It also has a much wider impact on family and friends – and means that the cost of care is much higher than if the disease is diagnosed early. We can help change all this by making men better informed about prostate health.”
Participation will raise money in the form of a donation from sponsors. Money will also be raised through registration fees and voluntary donations.
People can take part whatever their age and physical ability – and can run or walk as much as they feel up to. There are two ways to participate:
- Join a run to be held in Berlin from 8am on 17 October at the time of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress. It will be held at the TSV GutsMuth running track, close to transport links that provide direct access to the ESMO Congress venue.
- Complete your own virtual run or walk for us at any time between 1st October and 30 November 2025. Measure your steps or distance covered.
