EAU publishes COVID-19 guidance for patients

New advice for men with prostate cancer, in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic, has been issued by the European Association of Urology (EAU).

The new patient information includes frequently asked questions about COVID-19 and cancer such as: “What happens if I discontinue treatment, or my treatment is cancelled/delayed?” EAU advises not to stop treatment without careful consideration and seeking guidance.

Advice is also provided for men on active surveillance, those participating in clinical trials and those supporting loved ones with cancer. Men with prostate cancer and other urological conditions are invited to submit their own questions.

The EAU has also issued new videos in 12 languages for patients on: coronavirus, coronavirus hospitalisation, and coronavirus disease progression.

EAU’s Patient Information section says that, as the disease continues to affect the world in different ways, it will strive to provide the information patients need to keep themselves as safe and healthy as possible.

“You can play a direct role in helping others by simply asking us questions and by sharing our valuable information with those around you. Let us know what information you are missing.”
