Duration of ADT in prostate cancer patients receiving postoperative radiotherapy
A paper in The Lancet reports on the RADICALS-HD randomised controlled trial comparing long-course and short-course androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in prostate cancer patients receiving postoperative radiotherapy.
Adding 24 months of ADT improved metastasis-free survival in people receiving postoperative radiotherapy. For patients who can accept the additional duration of adverse effects, long-course ADT should be offered with postoperative radiotherapy, says the study.

First meeting of the new Board
On 9th August, the Europa Uomo Board and its new member Kees Vos will meet for the first time since the Annual General Meeting in Milan in May.
Important agenda points: the EU-PROPER study, the 2024 Summer School (27 participants), a new shared-decision making survey, the chatbot, new membership applications from Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, ESMO Patient Advocates Working Group and forthcoming conferences (EMUC24, EAU25, General Assembly).
